Alena Garashi Applerose -

I am a mixed media artist and arts educator living on the Western Slope of Colorado. My work is heavily influenced by the natural world; eighties/Gen X/current pop culture; how humans adorn themselves and their living environments; and the human figure.

My body of work overarchingly includes imagery of flora, fauna, animals and landscapes often made with recycled materials and found objects. I lean into vibrant colors, interesting textures and unexpected, unconventional materials all the while combining them with traditional techniques, forms and processes to create something new.

I believe that being alive. in and of itself, is an opportunity to create an artful life, and my end goal is to make living my very own work of art.
